NORDIC ANIMATION PITCH

Nordic Animation Pitch, the second joint Nordic pitching event for short animations, will take place in Helsinki at Kulttuuritehdas Korjaamo from 30th  of October till 1st of November.

The Nordic Animation Pitch event brings Nordic animation creators, producers, financiers and distributors together and at the same time strengthens cooperation between the Nordic countries. The event, for its part, supports the implementation and distribution of high-level animation art and enables creators to develop animation projects under the guidance of the industry’s best. This year’s event has also been extended to the Baltic countries.

This year’s event received a lot of project applications, from which the selection committee chose 8 projects for the actual event – two from Finland, two from Sweden, two from Denmark, one from Estonia and one from Latvia.

The mentors of the event are longtime animation industry professionals Nancy Denney-Phelps and Nik Phelps. The mentors coach the participants during the fall in two remote meetings and on October 30 and 31. In Helsinki at Korjaamo. The event culminates on Friday, November 1. to a pitching which is open to everyone.  Participants will pitch their projects to the jury and the public. The winner is chosen by an authoritative jury consisting of Kedri Oengo (Nukufilms, Estonia), Sari Volanen (YLE, Finland) and Rune Spaans (Norway).

During the event, there will be also interesting masterclasses and short animation screenings. Wednesday 30.10. award-winning Swedish director Jonas Odell talks about his own documentary animations and art in general. At the end of the day, Swedish Talents is a screening of award-winning and freshest Swedish short animations.  Thursday 31.10. Norwegian studio Qvisten Animation’s artistic director Will Ashurst talks about the studio’s successful development, their international animation productions and what it takes to be a successful studio at the industry.
